Rekha Rodwittiya and Abir Karmakar are two of the most prominent Indian Contemporary artists, with very distinctive styles of their own, both of them are very expressive in their works, yet very diffrent from each other in execution of their ideas and thoughts. Born in 1958, Bangalore, India, Rekha Rodwittiya completed her bachelors from M.S.University, Baroda and masters from the Royal College of Art, London. I believe she is one of those artists with an activist mood, she is very vocal about feminism, discrimination, political agenda and propagandas, along with other social issues. On observing her initial works one can find a very strong and bold execution of ideas along with splash of colours bright and vibrant, strong imagery conveying the idea directly onto the viewers conscious. Artworks like “How Naked Shall I Stand For You” 1986, “The Indian Businessman and His English Lover” 1983 are fine examples of her initial works. Later on in her journey works like “Rekha @50” 2009, “Gyan Chaupar (snakes and ladder)” 2007, One can observe the minimalist and simplified approach in the idea execution and a special stylised form of a human can be observed and identified as her unique element in her cmpositions. Some other significant works includes:
. Once Upon a Time (series)- 2005 – 2006.
. A Chanced Meeting Between Naukata No Okimi and Serendipitious Yayavar- 2004.

Born in 1977, Silliguri, India. Abir karmakar compleated his bachelors from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata, and masters from M.S.University, Baroda, his works are majorly focused on the concept of Identity and his execution of ideas are more on the realistic side. On observing his works one can find multiple realistic self portraits both naked and covered depending upon the requirement of the idea hie works gives off a warmer tone, his works are not photorealist, but gives off a certain type of stylization within the realistic approach. Abir Karmakar focuses upon mundane, daily life scenarios and an individual’s approach towards the value in objects and materials around such as clothes, beds, doors, utensils, cupboards, baskets and related emotional value for an individual. The concept of identity and migration are a major part of his work along with self portraits .
